About OnPoint's Partners
From 1988 to 2005, Bob's consulting firm, Education Resources Corporation (EdSource), helped colleges, universities, and other nonprofit organizations with their branding, strategic planning, and communications initiatives. Bob led the strategic planning team that re-branded High Point College as High Point University and developed the ten-year action plan that guided High Point to the significantly strengthened position in the market it enjoys today. He also developed the marketing plan for the public launch of a completely new institution and brand in Virginia higher education: the New College of Global Studies at Radford University. Bob's other clients included: Duke University, the Sisters of Mercy Health System, the Southern Regional Education Board, the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia, the NC Child Advocacy Institute, the Association of American Colleges and Universities, the US Army Research Office, the NC Public School Forum, and the National Network for Charitable Giving. Previously, Bob served as Director of Government Relations and chief lobbyist in Raleigh and Washington, DC for Duke University and Medical Center. Bob was a senior member of the leadership team that shaped Duke's image and messages on key national, state, and local issues. Earlier, Bob served as Assistant Director of the White House Domestic Policy Staff for President Jimmy Carter. Bob also has a record of five wins and no losses in statewide campaigns for bond and constitutional referenda in Virginia and North Carolina -- campaigns which require developing and selling previously unknown brands in short time frames and hostile environments. In addition, he has served as the principal message or issues advisor for candidates for Governor, US Senate, and other statewide offices in North Carolina, Virginia, Kansas, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin. For almost ten years, Bob has worked with the NC State Education Assistance Authority and College Foundation, Inc. to create the brand College Foundation of North Carolina (CFNC and CFNC.org) and to provide strategic planning, marketing, and communications guidance in support of the CFNC brand.
Mike has developed and implemented strategic communications and marketing plans for state government agencies and departments, nonprofit organizations in North Carolina and the southeast, small businesses and major national corporations, and political organizations and candidates at the federal, state and local levels. As Chief of Staff to Attorney General Mike Easley in 1993-1994, Mike managed all non-legal operations of the NC Department of Justice, including budget, personnel, legislative relations, policy and planning, public affairs, public information, and citizen affairs. From 1977 to 1983, Mike was chief public information officer and special assistant to the Secretary of the NC Department of Administration and the NC Department of Natural Resources and Community Development. As a campaign manager and consultant, Mike has been responsible for budgeting and managing multi-million dollar communications and media campaigns for US Senate, Congress, Governor, Council of State, NC Supreme Court, NC Court of Appeals, and state legislative races. Mike has directed the research and written the communications and branding plans for the Coastal Conservation Council of NC, the Lower Neuse River Basin Association, the Sparta Teapot Museum, and the Fayetteville Public Works Commission, among others.
Since 1984, Tim has provided a wide variety of media services to nonprofit and corporate clients, including logo development and design; branding and marketing counsel; earned media strategy; still and video photography; radio, television, and print advertising; media placement; and new media solutions. In addition, Tim has advised more than 50 political campaigns -- 19 of them statewide. Tim served as Events Coordinator and Director of Public Relations for Vermont's Mount Snow Ski Resort from 1993 to 1995. He is co-founder of Memorial Hall Center for the Arts in Wilmington, Vermont, where he also guided the branding and marketing efforts of the Mount Snow Valley Chamber of Commerce. During his work in Vermont, Tim helped form a community-wide strategic planning group to study and implement the re-branding and expansion of marketing for the Mount Snow Valley region. He also developed and implemented a successful co-op marketing program that increased the reach and frequency of area advertising. Tim is also a filmmaker and writer. His video production, “Tales of the Mountain,” won Best in Show at the Crested Butte (Colorado) Ski Film and Video Festival in 1995. That same year his play, “Dear Charles,” won the Vermont Playwrights Award and his screenplay, “Burning Bridges,” won the Gold Award at WorldFest Charleston International Film Festival. In 2007, "Steeped In Surprises," the film he produced for the Sparta Teapot Museum, won a national Bronze Telly Award in the category of public relations productions. In addition to his partnership in OnPoint Communications, Tim owns EditOne, LLC, a state-of-the-art HDTV post-production facility in Raleigh. Tim's recent credits include “SRC@25,” the anniversary video for the Semiconductor Research Corporation; a workforce training video for The NC Governor’s Rapid Response Team; numerous television commercials for the NC Division of Forest Resources; and “State of Minds,” a trade show video for the NC Biotechnology Center.
